As always, Russia was not circumvented, devoting one of the sections in the “anniversary” report to our country, criticizing the Kremlin for two “main” reasons: the first reason for supplying weapons to the Bashar al -Assad regime in Syria, and the second reason is for the “oppression and persecution” of their own so -called “oppositionists”.

Amnesty draws attention to the fact that Syria is “a state that is one of the main buyers of Russian weapons”. The leadership of this organization asks the President of Russia to “start your term with a clean person”, and in particular to revise the attitude to the Syrian regime.

The director of the Amnestyinternal program in Europe and Central Asia John Dalhizen reminded on May 23 of the veto, which Russia and China imposed on the UN Security Council resolution on sanctions against Syria. In July, the UN General Assembly may consider "an agreement that would eliminate the supply of weapons to countries to use it for violations of human rights." And “Russia should not miss a chance” to support this initiative, representatives of Amnesty say.

But, as the media write, it is not worth counting on the fact that this appeal will be noticed in the Kremlin. Although this organization contradicts itself, explaining on its website, who should be considered a “prisoner”: “At the same time, people who resort to violence or propagandize violence and enmity are not considered prisoners of conscience.”

The head of the Moscow Human Rights Bureau, Alexander Brod, noted that the formulations of the report by Amnesty International "are quite common and do not open to us America."
