The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for Moscow opened a criminal case against lawyer Dagir Khasavov under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity), says a message published on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office on Friday.
The basis for initiating the case were the statements of the lawyer in the story by the Ren TV channel, shown on April 24. On air, Khasavov spoke about the creation of the “Muslim Union” in order to protect Islamic law and the revival of Sharia courts. As the lawyer said, Muslims in Russia do not want to go to a secular court and in the absence of a Sharia court - “Moscow will be filled with blood and turned into a dead sea.” The prosecutor's office saw signs of extremism in the lawyer's statement and also issued a warning to the management of the REN TV channel.
Khasavov himself went abroad shortly after the program aired.
