Opponents of the exhibition of contemporary art in Novosibirsk intend to disrupt the opening
The Halerist Marat Gelman Galerist Marath Modern Art will open on Thursday in Novosibirsk, opponents of the exhibition are preparing a picket, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the director of the Novosibirsk support of contemporary art Anna Tereshkova.
Recall that the Modern Art exhibition "Rodina" was supposed to open in Novosibirsk on May 19, but not on the initially declared platform (in the State Museum of Local Lore), but in the space of the former North Airport, but on the eve of the opening of the rental agreement of the former air terminal was terminated unilaterally. The exposition, ready to open by 80%, was dismantled. Later it became known that the exhibition will nevertheless open in Novosibirsk on May 31 in a building on Krasnoye Prospekt - Central Street of the city.
In mid -May, several public organizations, including the "People’s Cathedral", the "trade union of Russian citizens", "The essence of the time", the "Eurasian Youth Union", held a picket "in defense of morality" against the Rodina exhibition in the center of Novosibirsk. Similar is declared on May 31.
“As far as I already know, there will be pickets and everything else, so we had to conclude an agreement with professional protection so that there were no violations,” Tereshkova said.
The exposition will open in a space previously known as the Siberian Fair, and will work within a month. Prior to the entry into the region of the new ex-center, various exhibitions-fairs were held on this site.
According to Tereshkova, the opening includes a street cultural program. Until 22:00 (19:00 in Moscow), a reader’s competition will be held here, music groups will perform.
On the same site, which, like the premises where the exhibition will be held, belongs to the Novosibirsk Electrovacuum Plant (NEVZ-SOUZ Holding Company), the exhibition is declared with the mayor's office.
"When we signed the documents that we will have a street opening, we signed an agreement with the administration of the plant because it is their territory. I do not understand how the administration (city) gave permission to a picket in the plant. Now I am engaged in this trial," she said.
Tereshkova also said that the organizers of the exhibition in Novosibirsk filed a lawsuit against the owners of the site, where it was planned to open the exhibition on May 19. According to her, the amount declared in it is twice the cost of the rental, which had to be paid for the placement of the exposition with them.
The Rodina exhibition in November last year was demonstrated at the Perm Museum of Modern Art. It is the work of contemporary artists dedicated to images that appeared in post -Soviet Russia.
