Fragments of former greatness. Now they do not cut their chests on stage with beaten bottles, but there are no stellar breakthroughs - no
In world music-complete democracy: 80% of musicians are recorded and published outside the records and labels. They are written in home studios, published on the Internet. And everything is great, only along the way it took such a thing as a big style. It is clear who exactly represented this style in rock and roll-Elvis Presley, of course, Beatles, Led Zeppelin. Their mighty talent was soldered with an amazing sense of dignity and complete neglect of the framework of decency. That is, when Elvis began to move his hips, he blew up American morality. When Page and Plan on tour were thrown out of the windows, this hooliganism was combined with the grandeur that showed the “Zeppelins” in every song. Now they do not make such guys. No one throws the maids of the numbers, does not cut its chest on stage with beaten bottles, but after all - a paradox - and there are no stairs to the sky either. And what is even more tragic, part of the offspring of the heroes of Rock also went to make music. And this is a disaster. After all, it is difficult not to consider such a career of both young Lennons, the son of Ringo Starr Zak, the son of Harrison. Thank God, even though Stella McCartney did not occur to sing songs, she successfully engaged in rags. It was possible to consider the catastrophe and career of Lisa Marie Presley (the only daughter of Elvis) - in any case, to the new album. So today we are considering the wreckage of a large style, old school professionals and completely new representatives of Internet democracy.
Lisa Maria Pressley, Storm & Grace, 2012
We understand that people who go to the “picnic” in Kolomensky listen to Zemfira, and at the same time Courtney Love, probably, do not even suspect the existence of Elvis's only daughter named Lisa Marie. Or maybe they simply did not notice her two previous albums because of their professional smies. But the third album came out - seven years after the previous one. And it is clear that something happened to her. A certain rough feeling appeared in it, which is usually called the word “habalism” on our territory, but the Anglo -Saxons are probably pressure and impudence. She became open sexy - what is called Cougar, an adult woman hunting for young and strong guys. This is what appeared in her voice. The music became rougher, towards Waits, arrangements sailed there, just listen to the first song Over me, although the second is much better - You ain't Seen Nothing Yet. It is clear where the luxurious arrangements come from - she hired Ty Bonnett, who for millions became the producer and co -author of the amazing disk of Robert Plant with Alison Krauss. The artist is added by her collaboration with British composers, one of them is the concert guitar of the PULP group Richard Hawley. So maybe its first two albums were somewhat optional.
The School, Reading Too Much Into Things Like EVERYTHING, 2012
That's who can be represented as a team of a new generation - the generation of the Internet and the European association is a Welsh group from Cardiff. As it is fashionable today, the leader of the group is a girl. Her name is Liz Hunt, her previous group was called The Loves and supplied excellent indie music. But The School began concerting in 2007. She played four concerts, and they were taken by the Elefant label, located far from Wales, in Madrid. Perhaps that is why quite quickly they recorded a song for the Spanish movie Yo, Tambien (“Me too”) about a guy with Down syndrome. They released the first Loveless Unbeliever disc in April 2010, and now, in May of this year, they released the second. They sound easily and even somewhere pop, so that an inexperienced audience can perceive all their aesthetics directly. But, in general, there is nothing wrong with this - to dance under a stylish music with well -dressed peers. The first single from the album was Never Though I'd See The Day with four songs that the audience perceived very, very well.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Covers, 2012
Amazing RHCP group! Not only do they have been on stage for a decade, but everyone remains alive and eternal authority among a part of the Russian public, which prefers not to notice that their idols have long been playing the same song. With rare exceptions. True, very, very high quality. This month they released EP, that is, a record with six songs. And all these songs are strangers. Those options for the songs that they played on the presentation of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame awards. A Teenager in Love is the old song of the old Dion & THE BELMONTS. You will remember both the 50s and all this early rock and roll life. "Peppers" here are as close as possible to vintage. They made the old punk Havana Affair of the Ramones group of Ramones. Search & Deastroy from Iggy Pop and Stoogies, on the contrary, is close to punk original. No branded Funk, only punk. EVERYBODY KNOS THIS IS Nowhere - this is generally the song of the Nile Yang, which still cannot choose - it is folk, rock or protest. Well, how could the Californians sing the number of other Californians? I mean the I Get Arund of the Beach Boys group - a pure grof with a powerful much -haired and the old sound of guitars. Well, Suffragette City from David Bowie was simply puzzled - he also became punk.
Richard Hawley, Standing At the Sky's Edge, 2012
The disk will especially delight the “children of flowers” and other old hippies, because it opens with a pure psychedelic - a seven -minine old -school play, which has a sitar, an organ, and guitars, and violin - all in a heap, as if from stained Beatles in 1967. On the other hand, numbers such as Standing at the Sky's Edge are vaguely reminiscent of the themes of the late Cache and even Dr. John (“Joseph was a good person, but he killed his wife, Maria stood on the edge of heaven and sold his body”-blah blah blah, a little more, and Western will begin). And yes-the soft baritone and Hawley's manner of singing reminds someone-Ba! So this is Alex Turnkes, it seems that he grew up in his Sheffield on Hawley's records. It is no coincidence that you can find a recording of their joint performance on YouTube. But then suddenly Down in the Woods contains a quote from IGGI PLA, and here you no longer know who affects whom and how it affects. Seek Its - a great love song, in a hurry in the corresponding voice, this guy knows how to seduce the audience. The album was released on May 7, and Jools Holland has already been on the network, and there is an excellent live version of Donat Stare at the Sun, where the author plays on a 12-string Rikenbaker. A unique sound. Hawley has a very serious approach to music, and the aesthetics are higher than high.
