Children's territory

The Grayvoron Children's Library is known not only in the Belgorod region, but far beyond its borders for its traditions and innovative approach to organizing children's reading. But the most important thing is that for the children of Grayvoron it has become a real home where they love and read books.

The library traces its history back to 1948, with just three bookshelves. And 30 years later, on the 300th anniversary of Grayvoron and the 60th anniversary of the Komsomol, a new building was put into operation, which began the most important milestone in its formation.

The institution is lucky to have directors - creative and dedicated people. Antonina Aleksandrovna Nevidimova has devoted more than 40 years to library science, including three decades in a leadership position, and is now an honorary citizen of the Grayvoronsky district. It was thanks to her tireless participation that the construction of a specialized building took place.

Today, the children's library, the first in the region to receive the status of a legal entity, is truly the territory of children, the territory of children's reading. A creative and very efficient team works here, who know how to interest children in reading and systematically create a comfortable environment for their intellectual development. At the same time, paying a lot of attention to moral, spiritual, legal, local history, aesthetic, environmental and especially patriotic education.

Meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War play a key role in it. Readers listen with interest to their heartfelt stories about the events of the war-scorched years, their military and labor achievements, as they say, from direct lips they learn the true history of their country.

For five years now, the children's library has been fruitfully cooperating with the Russian Children's Fund. In 2007, she became a participant in the All-Russian Charity Project of the Russian Children's Fund "The World of Childhood: Literacy, Morality, Creativity." With the active support of the Foundation, the facility was equipped with computer equipment, audio and video equipment, video cassettes, disks, and books. Major repairs were carried out at the expense of the district administration. A media hall with 30 seats was created, the opening of which was attended by the Chairman of the Russian Children's Fund, President of the International Association of Children's Funds, famous children's writer and long-time friend of young readers of the Grayvoron region Albert Anatolyevich Likhanov.

The main event of 2009 was the implementation of the creative project “Book + Me”, for which the Grayvoron residents were awarded a grant from the governor of the Belgorod region. The financial resources made it possible not only to significantly replenish the book fund and technical equipment, but also to implement the main project activities. And these are sociological studies, promotions, public speaking competitions, reading conferences, traveling book exhibitions, forums with the participation of Moscow writers.

Meetings with famous children's writers become a good tradition and an incentive to introduce the younger generation to reading. The guys have the opportunity to communicate with Albert Likhanov, Vladislav Bakhrevsky, Tamara Kryukova, Anna Pecherskaya. The result is often co-creation with famous guests. The Grayvoron residents made a significant contribution to Vladislav Bakhrevsky’s book “The Heroic ABC” with an essay about the child heroes of Grayvoron.

A real holiday for young readers is “Summer Readings”. During the summer, they will enjoy various literary competitions and quizzes, loud readings on the lawn, festivals, and an off-site reading room and puppet theater.

Grayvoron librarians and their students are no strangers to new information technologies. In 2011, they adequately represented the region at the all-Russian video conference “Information security of childhood and the culture of safe behavior on the Internet: the role and capabilities of libraries in educating children and parents,” in which the Krasnodar regional children's library, Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Tomsk took part , Ulyanovsk regional children's libraries..

Also, young readers of the region were able to participate in a video meeting with children's writer Lev Yakovlev. And specialists are in video bridges with the Yakovlev and Gubkin children's libraries.

For several years now, the Skazka café has been operating at the library, and its popularity among children and their parents, thanks to interesting entertainment programs and performances of home-grown puppet theater, is gaining momentum.

Modern, mobile, always afloat, the children's library finds mutually beneficial contacts with social partners. Celebrated International Reading Day

On May 17, young readers of the Grayvoronsky District Children's Library took part in International Reading Day. This holiday is organized by the children's publishing house “Pink Giraffe” and is being held for the fourth time. Last year alone, more than 40 thousand children from 14 countries took part in it. Every year the publishing house selects one of the books it has published, which it sends out free of charge to kindergartens, schools, libraries, and children's development centers. And then on World Reading Day, adults read this book to children, which then remains in the library.

It was the first time that Grayvoron residents carried out such an action. At first, second-graders of the Grayvoronsk secondary school with in-depth study of individual subjects eagerly read children's poems and actively named domestic and foreign writers and poets. And it should be noted that the audience was well-read and knowledgeable.

This year, the Pink Giraffe chose for a loud reading the book by the famous English writer and poet Shell Silverstein, “A Giraffe and a Half.” Before starting to read, the children's library workers provided comprehensive information about the author, and Silverstein is also a playwright, an artist, a musician, a producer, and a director, one of whose films was nominated for an Oscar.
Then the young readers listened with undisguised pleasure and attention to the poem “One and a Half Giraffes”, competently answered questions about the text, and as a reward, each of them received a coloring book with a giraffe, which had to draw stripes, which they did with passion and not without imagination they did it.
