The new head of the Moscow police was appointed

President Putin signed a decree on the appointment of Major General Anatoly Yakunin by the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Kremlin press service.

Yakunin will replace the acting head of the Moscow department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Viktor Golovanov in this post.

Major General Anatoly Yakunin previously headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Novgorod region.

"The new head of the capital’s head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev intersected when they worked in Orel: Yakunin was with Kolokoltsev the first deputy who oversaw the criminal police unit. He was known for an irreconcilable struggle with crime, was the initiator and active participant in the investigation of criminal cases related to the corruption behavior of the former heads of the internal affairs bodies of the Oryol region," - A representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told reporters.

The former chief of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev took the post of Minister of the Interior.
