In the Kostroma region, a criminal case has been opened against a 36-year-old resident of the village of Nikolskoye, suspected of torturing his teenage stepson, the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Kostroma Region reported on Monday.
According to investigators, in May 2012, the suspect beat his wife's 14-year-old son three times with an electric wire. The reason for the “punishment” was the teenager’s poor performance at school. The boy’s own father, who learned about the incident, contacted law enforcement agencies with a statement.
The case was qualified under paragraph “d”, part 2, article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Torture of a knowingly minor”). Currently, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crime committed, the investigation department noted.
