The trading session on the Russian stock market ended with the growth of the main indices. As a result of trading, the MICEX index rose by 0.60% to 1,305.86 points, and the RTS index by 0.96% to 1,239.46 points. The trading volume on the stock market on the united MICEX-RTS exchange today amounted to 351 billion 818.5 million rubles.

Trading on the Russian stock market today began in the “red” zone against the backdrop of new falling records set by the American market on Friday, as well as rapidly falling oil prices. Meanwhile, by mid-day there was a rebound against the backdrop of the publication of unemployment data in Spain (a decline for the second month in a row due to the start of the tourist season) and the publication of the troika’s experts’ assessments regarding the dynamics of the Portuguese economy, experts from Veles Capital Investment Company note. According to the new forecast, Portugal's GDP will contract by 3% in 2012, rather than by 3.25% as previously expected, and a return to growth can be expected from next year.

The growth leaders at the end of the trading session were ordinary shares of RAO ES Vostok (+13.06%), Tatneft (+4.63%), and Surgutneftegaz (+2.9%). The leaders of the fall were shares of KAMAZ (-3.1%), TMK (-2.73%), and Razgulay (-2.46%).

Among the events that will influence the market on June 5 is the publication of business activity indices in the service sectors of the eurozone and Germany in May (11:55-12:30 Moscow time), and in the United States the ISM business activity index in the services sector will be published in May. In addition, Fed representatives will speak during the day and after the close of main trading.

In the current conditions, the “bulls” can only hope for help from world leaders and regulators; in particular, this week words about possible support may be heard from Ben Bernanke, as well as from representatives of the ECB and the Bank of England, notes Aton analyst Elena Kozhukhova.

“The volatility of sentiment is still high, so it’s worth playing for a corrective rebound upward only if any favorable factors appear. Otherwise, the risks may not be worth it, and today’s growth can easily be eliminated by another panic selling,” the expert believes.
