For more than 30 years, the children’s reading club “Zernyshki” has been actively operating at the rural library, which introduces each generation of beginning readers 6-7 years of age to the library, to the fascinating world of books, teaches them to independently choose, work and take care of library publications. During the school holidays we organize an educational video salon “Erudite”. For preschoolers, together with the Lenochek kindergarten, the library holds Fairy Tale Days and Knowledge Days. For high school students, there is a local history lecture “The Road to Home.” For schoolchildren, the rural library is an information center where inquiries are made, reports, abstracts and essays are written.
For adult readers, a creative club “Zavalinka” operates at the library, Information Days are held annually for teachers, a museum exhibition “The World of a Peasant House” is opened in the reading room, and exhibitions of works by folk craftsmen are organized.
9. In the practical activities of the Slavninsky Library, various forms are used, both for mass work with organized groups of preschoolers and school students, and for individual service to young readers. Mass events with children are held weekly: literary festivals, exhibitions, book reviews, reading days, informational, folklore, environmental and poetry hours, local history tournaments, travel conversations, library lessons, military history excursions, courage lessons, etiquette conversations, video literature programs, multi-videodromes, competitions, quizzes and game programs.
Based on the results of the “Best Reader of the Year” competition, we make sure to reward children who actively read. The approximate ratio of “independent readers” to “organized groups” is five to two.
10. Our library cooperates with educational and cultural institutions of the microdistrict: the staff of the Slavninskaya secondary school, the Lenochek kindergarten, the administration of the Orphanage and the village club; with the Council of Veterans, the administration of the Budovsky rural settlement and the deputy group. In the preparation and holding of public events, such as: Village Day, Victory Day, Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, Children's and Youth Book Week "Book Name Days", Summer Reading Program "Book Rainbow" and other events, organizations and institutions of the village participate as partners.
11. Thanks to interaction with the archives and museums of the city of Torzhok, the library successfully conducts local history activities, the results of which are published annually in regional collections of local history and the local press. Poets of the literary association “Tvertsa” and famous folk groups participate in creative evenings and meetings. The library uses the IBA of the Tver Regional Library named after Gorky and the intra-system book exchange of the MBUK "Torzhok Central Library", participates in competitions, submits work experience to professional seminars, supports all-Russian events in the field of culture: International Reading Day, Library Night.
12. All funds received would be used for development and renewal in order to achieve the high standards of a model library in rural areas in terms of resource and technical equipment, significantly increasing readers’ access to culture and information. It is necessary to complete the dilapidated book stock, especially in the departments: children's literature, classics, art; update encyclopedic and reference publications; purchase modern copying and duplicating equipment and equipment for holding public events (video projector, laptop, screen, digital camera, movie camera); update library equipment (exhibition display cases and shelving).

Just two years ago, I never thought that I would work in the library, where my mother once took me when I was very little. I liked choosing books, magazines, and reading funny stories. I generally loved to read, so as I grew older I didn’t stop visiting the library, but my interests and requests had changed a lot: instead of “Murzilka” I brought home more serious works, and in the reading room we no longer played board games, but completed our first reports, essays, essays. I also remember how people came here to events dedicated either to history, or to our village, or to some writer. We watched, listened and participated with pleasure. As a child, I didn’t have a computer, so with every question I had, I went to the Slavninsky library.
And now, having grown up, I came here to work, and everything suddenly seemed different, as if I had stepped through the looking glass. Now I choose books not so much for myself as for our users, I don’t look, but I hold events, and such a variety of readers come to my department - from a preschooler to a pensioner.
One thing has remained unchanged: I still find everything here interesting. Only now I have a direct connection to this. I didn’t think there was so much work in the library: I keep track of incoming literature, edit the catalogue, put things in order in the collections, and glue up old books. It’s especially interesting to work on exhibitions: figure out how to reveal and present a theme in order to interest visitors. But even here it was not without difficulties, but I am learning: from colleagues at work and at the library department at the college of culture. But the main problem remains attracting young people to read. It turned out that just to open the library doors is not enough for young people to come, so we are trying in every possible way to interest them. To achieve this goal, we hold youth games, meetings, and even nights in the library. This is how a variety of ideas are born within our walls: here are competitions, quizzes, conferences and presentations, interest clubs for children and adults, library events, information days, village and rural settlement days.
But in order for this to happen, it is not enough to write a good script - you need to be able to find financial means for its implementation, be able to draw, be an artist, a barker. As it turned out, in the library Through the Looking Glass, you need to be able not only to communicate, organize meetings, host evenings, but also to be Cinderella. In the Book House, you also need to wash the floors, windows, wash curtains, wipe off dust, hang stands, change light bulbs, remove garbage and mow down the ominous hogweed in the surrounding area. However, we try to keep up with the times. Thanks to victories in competitions, the library acquired two computers on which our users can work, and we can prepare presentations, create booklets, brochures, leaflets and other promotional products.
For some, time drags on, for others it runs, but for me it rushes at a gallop: every day there is something new: new meetings, new acquaintances, new ideas. And all this in my library Through the Looking Glass!
