Save Taisiya Osipova!

A new trial of political prisoner Taisiya Osipova continues in Smolensk. Many of the people who sympathized with her thought that since the previous sentence was overturned, then Taisiya had almost been released. This is wrong. She remains in custody. For more than a year and a half now.

The new judge, whose last name is Kozhevnikov, is undoubtedly trying to complete the process as quickly as possible, and is extremely negative towards Taisiya, which he does not hide. The judicial system never simply releases those who fall into its millstones. Now they are counting on the fact that the attention of society and the media to the case of Taisiya Osipova has weakened and they can convict her quietly, giving, for example, a year or two less than the first time, or even the same amount.

Lawyers say that when court hearings are held without people in the room, Judge Kozhevnikov openly supports the prosecution, does not allow the lawyers and Taisiya herself to speak, and ignores their petitions and statements. The presence of people in the room forces the judge to be more restrained and at least formally observe the rule of law.

We do not have a mechanism to influence the “independent” judicial system. The only thing we can do is to ensure that public attention to Taisiya’s case does not wane, and that the judge in Smolensk sees and feels it. The easiest way to sue a person is in a provincial town, far from Moscow. The car rally in support of Taisiya Osipova on February 15, when a significant support group arrived in Smolensk from Moscow, had great psychological significance for all participants in the process and undoubtedly influenced the observance of the law when deciding to overturn the verdict by the regional court.

In this regard, the idea arose to organize trips to current court hearings with Taisiya.

It is not necessary for everyone to travel to every meeting. Anyone who has the opportunity to visit at least one of them is already good. Who can do more - great! The next meetings are scheduled for June 14, 15, 18, 19 and 20. Meetings begin at 10:00. The judge is in a hurry and has scheduled court hearings for as many as 5 working days in a row.

For each meeting, groups can be formed who want to go to the trial, connecting people with each other. You can get there on your own. They need ordinary people, media figures, journalists, and bloggers.

Travel time, depending on the type of transport, is from 4 to 6 hours. You can get to Smolensk by your own vehicle, train or bus
