It's not just the authorities who are investigating.

On June 8, at the Museum and Public Center named after A. Sakharov, public hearings were held to a full house on the investigation of crimes and lawlessness of the authorities during the dispersal of the mass demonstration in Moscow on May 6, 2012.

Those gathered listened to testimonies from beaten citizens, and also saw photos and videos confirming unlawful actions on the part of police officers.

Lev Ponomarev from the All-Russian Movement for Human Rights complained that out of hundreds of illegally beaten citizens, only four officially turned to him for help. Documented evidence formed the basis of materials for the hearings .

But here’s another story: Andrey (name changed), one of the victims who contacted the Moscow Helsinki Group, was in the front row of a column that ran into a chain of riot police and he accidentally ran into a police officer who had made threats against him. Andrei was beaten, detained, taken to the police department, convicted of resisting a police officer, and after he was released he was beaten with bats by two strangers. He recorded the beatings and wrote a statement to the police. After contacting human rights activists, Andrei called back and asked to suspend his case because one of his relatives, who works in the authorities, was under pressure.

Nadezhda Mityushkina from the Solidarity movement reported that she, as one of the organizers of the march and rally, was constantly obstructed by the police: stopping cars with props and paranoid search for tents, obstructing the passage of television crews and journalists, deceptions and, ultimately, illegal detention .

Retired FSB Major General Alexey Kondaurov said that it is necessary to record all illegal actions, and when the power changes, present the “Hamburg account.” He believes that there was a disproportionate use of force against civilians. Remembering his dispute in the early nineties with Galina Starovoytova and his negative attitude towards the lustration law, the major general said that now he would support it.

The organizers invited the affected citizens to give their testimony in order to bring the perpetrators to justice in the future.
