The EU Delegation to Tajikistan has decided to expel attaché Malika Malki and her husband Jalol Kazza from this country. This decision, as reported by Radio Ozodi (the local service of Radio Liberty), was made due to a recent conflict between the mentioned citizens and the local police.

Last week, we recall, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan stated that foreigners, being drunk, violated public order and beat police officers who tried to detain them. “As a result, the police received physical injuries and injuries,” the report stated.

According to reports, Malki and Kazu have French citizenship. Initial media reports of the incident claimed that Malki's companion was also a diplomat.

The conflict between foreigners reportedly occurred on the evening of June 4 in one of the capital’s cafes. The Dushanbe police claim that the French “insulted those present in their own language”, that Malki wanted to break a bottle over the head of a police officer, that the attaché and her companion got into a fight with three police officers, and that after that, while in the police station, they broke tables and chairs.

A report of the incident was published on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan. True, later, as Avesta notes , it was deleted.

The EU Delegation, for its part, stated that it would conduct its own investigation into the incident.

On June 11, a spokeswoman for the representative office told Radio Ozodi that “the incident continues to be studied, but preliminary conclusions are that Malika Malki and her husband Jalol Kazu must leave Tajikistan.” Kazza has already left the republic, and his wife will follow him in the near future.

When asked whether the departure of these citizens can be regarded as an admission of their guilt, the press secretary of the representative office did not give a definite answer.
