Kazakh border guard Vladislav Chelakh , who was arrested on charges of murdering fellow soldiers at the Arkankergen post, was allowed to meet with his relatives. The meeting, Tengrinews reports, took place on Saturday, June 9.

The mother and grandfather of the border guard came to the meeting. According to the grandfather, his grandson declared his innocence.

Vladislav Chelakh's relatives believe that he was previously forced to confess. “I persuaded him to change his testimony, because there is no need to feel sorry for them, these scoundrels who scared him. They deliberately left him alive in order to pin these murders on him,” says the grandfather of the arrested man.

Official information that Chelakh is ready to change his testimony has not yet received confirmation.

The border guard's grandfather, according to BNews , said that the relatives of the dead servicemen also do not believe Chelakh is guilty. He also said that “three stab wounds and many bruises” were found on the body of one of the victims (in the official version, which was previously voiced by the Prosecutor General’s Office, there was no mention of beatings and stab wounds).

In turn, the prosecutor's office recently stated that at the time of his arrest Chelakha was wearing clothes that belonged to his commander, and that he was also found with a laptop and money that belonged to the commander.

The emergency at the Arkankergen border post (in the Almaty region, on the border with China), as reported, occurred on the night of May 28. The post has stopped communicating. A border patrol that arrived there on May 30 found that the post had burned down, and almost all the border guards (14 out of 15 people serving there) had died. In addition, the body of a deceased huntsman was found in a hunting lodge nearby.

On June 4, the only surviving border guard was discovered - 20-year-old private Vladislav Chelakh. Initially it was reported that he himself returned to the post, then the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan announced that he was detained.

A few days later, the Prosecutor General's Office announced that the detainee confessed to the murder of his colleagues and the huntsman. According to her version, all of Chelakh’s victims were unarmed at the time of the murder, some were sleeping, and those who were awake allegedly “did not take it seriously when weapons were pointed at them.” The cause of the murders, according to the prosecutor's office, was "internal conflicts and inexplicable clouding of consciousness."

The official version was criticized in the press (it was doubtful that one border guard killed 14 fellow soldiers). Unofficially, a variety of versions of what happened were put forward: from a terrorist attack and invasion by China to provocation by Kazakh security forces.
