The Russian pianist won at the competition of the Andes Gesa in Zurich

The Russian pianist Varvara Nepomnya won at the International Pianists named after Gesa Anda in Zurich (Concours Geza anda), OpenSpace reports with reference to the official website of the competition.

The jury, under the leadership of the English conductor Jonathan Nott, awarded the first prize - a cash prize of 30 thousand Swiss francs (31.5 thousand dollars) and an engagement for concerts over the next three years (up to two hundred performances).

In addition, the Nepomnya received a prize for the performance of Mozart's piano concerts, as well as a prize of audience sympathy.

The second award was awarded to Kim da Sol (South Korea), the third - Elmar Hasanov (Ukraine).

Varvara Nepomnya (b. 1983) is a graduate of the Gnesin and Moscow Conservatory School (class of Professor Mikhail Voskresensky), laureate of several international competitions, since 2011 - a student of the Higher School of Music in Hamburg (class of Professor Evgeny Korolev).

The pianist constantly performs with concerts in the cities of Russia, as well as in Germany, France, Poland, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Japan. He collaborates with several Russian and foreign orchestras.

Since 1979, the international competition named after Gesa Anda has been held in Zurich once every three years, where the famous Hungarian pianist lived for more than 30 years. The last representative of Russia, who won at the competition of the Andes Gesa, was the Moscow pianist Sergey Kudryakov in 2006.
