A person’s willingness to suffer for his beliefs without looking for emergency exits is a rare thing in our pragmatic times. It's hard not to respect that. And it’s hard not to think: how would I spend my last night before being arrested for an unknown period of time?

But it is clear that the greatest threat to a regime that firmly believes in the power of repression and intimidation are precisely those people who are not afraid of either clubs or prison.
