
In August of this year, AvtoVAZ OJSC begins the serial production of LADA Granta cars with an automatic gearbox (automatic transmission), Finmarket reports, citing a press release from the Japanese company Jatco, which will supply automatic transmission to AvtoVAZ.
The Russian company expects to produce about 80 thousand Granta cars with Automata annually.
In addition, as the corporate publication of the Russian enterprise reports, Jatco is studying the possibilities for organizing production in Russia.
“I can’t say with confidence about our further plans. If the Jatco cars manufactured on AvtoVAZ will be sold well, if the consumer appreciates our product, then the possibility of organizing our production in Russia is not excluded,” the word of the President of the Japanese company Takashi Khata quoted.
In March, the Volga plant assembled the first Granta cars with a 4-speed automatic transmission for testing, in 2012 about 10 thousand LADA cars with Automata will be assembled. Automatic transmission is supplied from the plant in Japan.
Jatco in June 2012 presented the Russian office in Togliatti, 75% Jatco owns Nissan Motor Co., 15% - Mitsubishi Motors and 10% - Suzuki Motor Corporation.
AvtoVAZ currently does not massage cars with automatic transmission.
