“Joining the WTO will make us poorer. We will ruin our national economy.
Import duties will be reduced and the country will be flooded with foreign goods. Since we are a very northern country, the production of any goods costs us much more, and Russian manufacturers will certainly not be able to compete with foreign ones. Agriculture will die, it will be killed by predatory imports from southern countries. For example, factories producing agricultural machinery will certainly die (yes, they are already dying, suffering huge losses, since the consumer is waiting for July 22, the day of ratification, the entry into force of the protocol on our accession to the WTO)... July 22 (before this date Russia must ratify agreement) a death sentence will be signed for the Russian economy. We must resist this approaching death."
