The top lot of the Sotheby's auction in New York dedicated to Apple products was the first computer of the same name, assembled in 1976. The price for which the anonymous buyer purchased this device was $370.5 thousand and was twice the estimate. Despite its venerable age, the computer is in good condition. The lot included a motherboard, processor, keyboard, memory modules, batteries and cooling elements, and a video terminal. In addition, the computer came with the original user manual. According to experts, there are no more than 50 such machines left in the world. A total of 200 such computers were created, the price of each at one time was $666.6. Steve Jobs himself set this price to ensure his creations received additional attention. However, for this money the buyer received only the motherboard; everything else had to be paid separately. In addition, a technical note Steve Jobs wrote at the age of 19, when he worked at Atari, was also sold at auction.
