The monorails road passing through the Butyrsky and Ostankinsky districts of Moscow will continue to function in the same mode, Izvestia reported on June 26 with reference to the prefect of the North-Eastern Administrative District of the capital Valery Vinogradov.
“I asked this question to colleagues from the Department of Transport, I was assured that talking about closing the road is speculation, no one was going to close it. It is in demand by the inhabitants of our and neighboring Northern District and will work, ”the prefect said.
Recall that in April 2012, the deputy head of the Department of Transport and the Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of Moscow, Yevgeny Mikhailov, said that the capital’s authorities are considering the possibility of closing and subsequent dismantling of the Moscow monorail due to a low number of passengers on this type of transport.
In addition, according to Mikhailov, “Monorels is very expensive for the Moscow budget: this is a loss -making project, it had to be sponsored, about 1 billion rubles. per year ".
Opening in 2004, in the North-East Administrative District of the capital, the Moscow Monorails Transport System connects the Timiryazevskaya metro station and VDNH.
