In the Amur Region, a criminal investigation into the poisoning of children with chlorine vapor in a hotel sauna has been completed, the Russian Investigative Committee reported on Thursday, June 28.
As noted, charges under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Provision of services that do not meet the safety and health requirements of consumers”) were brought against a 60-year-old sauna worker. The case against her has gone to trial.
According to the investigation, on October 22, 2011, the accused, who worked as a bath attendant in a sauna at a hotel located on Partizanskaya Street in the city of Belogorsk, violated the technology for using disinfectants when sanitizing the floor, walls of the room and water in the pool. As a result, chlorine vapors filled the room. At this time, 10 children aged from two to 12 years old were relaxing in the sauna. They received acute poisoning.
