On Thursday, June 28, in the Muzeon art park in Moscow, I was awarded the independent music award “Steppen Wolf” 2012 in the “Catalyst” category for the “White Album” project. I want to make it clear that the White Album project is a collective effort. Even if I came up with the concept of the “White Album” and carried out the main production work, but without the participation of Sasha Lipnitskoko, Artem Troitsky and the website Publicpost.ru , where this music collection was published, our “White Album” could not have turned out to be such a successful and resonant project.

At the ceremony, Center guitarist Zhenya Ilnitsky and I performed two songs acoustically: the old, but still relevant “Commission” and the completely new “I’m Not Going Not to Drink,” in which alcohol is seen as one of the proven forms of popular protest, based on an impenetrable formula: “We will respond to terror with “…..” delirium tremens.” The ellipses in this formula can be filled in depending on the direction of the protest energy. The protest can be purely personal, such as “mother-in-law”, “boss”, “colleagues”. The protest can be massive, and in our time people protest against falsifiers, usurpers, swindlers and thieves, as well as their dependents. See video of our performance above.

This year, the Steppenwolf prize was created from wood by St. Petersburg artist Nikolai Kopeikin.
