Aslambek Vagapov, who admitted to the murder of the head of the Svetloyarsk district of the Volgograd region, Nikolai Krutov, stated that the reason for the crime was the regular extortion of money from him by an official, the official representative of the Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, told Interfax on Friday.
“According to the man, the motive for the murder was the systematic extortion of money from him by Krutov,” Markin said.
The head of the Svetloyarsky district of the Volgograd region, Nikolai Krutov, was shot dead at his workplace in his own office at about 16.30 on Friday, June 29.
According to investigators, 63-year-old local resident Aslambek Vagapov came to the office of the head of the district, where he fired five aimed shots at the official from a Makarov pistol. The victim died from his injuries at the scene.
“After committing the crime, the suspect immediately went to the district unit of the regional department of the Investigative Committee and reported what had happened, handing over weapons and ammunition. He is currently detained and has written a confession,” the Investigative Committee reported .
An investigative team is currently working at the scene. Urgent measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime committed. On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder).
