Our progressive society has one (but far from the only) naive girlish dream. So, they say, if a threat arises in the West to the accounts of the Russian leaders, they will become silk.
Meanwhile, the leaders, unlike the progressive public, are trainable and intelligent people. And while the public welcomed the coups in Arab countries that brought Islamists to power, the leaders learned the most important lesson of the Arab spring: the only guarantee of foreign accounts is unshakable, absolute, unchallenged power within the country. Who would touch the accounts of the ousted leaders if they nipped the unrest in the bud? Nobody would dare.
And reputational risks are another naive girlish dream of those who are unable to perceive and analyze information. If in Russia all the swamp activists, temple actionists, and opposition journalists are imprisoned, then... well, maybe a hundred or two performers will be blacklisted, but if you continue to publicly pray to the Mother of God for a change in the supreme ruler, then very soon a threat will arise well-being of top officials. Even their property that is hidden in reliable legal packages and is controlled by them informally. It is likely that he will be the first one. Because all legal and illegal property of the first persons is not property at all, but a derivative of their status.
Moreover, this is a thesauration of status, and not something that can be spent: Rhine gold, secret treasures, hidden magical power. It doesn’t matter at all that if ten billion are lost, one will remain. It will no longer be life if power is lost.
But if all the money is lost, and the power remains, then... however, this is impossible. As long as there is power, there will be money.
And the funny thing is that absolutely rational actions are taken by Russian leaders within the irrational framework of a magical picture of the world. They even drive the Orthodox Church into this framework, turning priests into priests and sorcerers.
So leave your naive girlish dreams, leave them...
