The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the British Bank of Barclays, Marcus Agius (Marcus Agius) will announce its resignation on July 2, reports the Air Force . The reason for this decision was a scandal related to credit rates.
Eijius himself, according to the radio station, intends to report that he allowed “unacceptable norms of behavior”, working in Barclays, and inflicted a “crushing blow to the reputation of the bank”.
The pressure on the leadership of Barclays by politicians and investors intensified since the bank announced an agreement with the regulators of the United States and the UK in the middle of last week, BFM.ru reports. Barclays had to pay a fine of £ 290 million ($ 452 million) for the authorities to refuse claims. The bank was punished for fraud by the rates of interbank lending Libor.
The 65-year-old Aijius has been led by Barclays since 2007. Barclays was the first bank to agree with the regulators investigating violations in the Libor market. So far, no bank or an individual has been charged with manipulations of the rate.
