The Spanish national team again became the European football champion. In the decisive match of Euro 2012, the Spaniards beat Italy with an account atypical for finals-4: 0.

Given her triumph at the 2010 World Championship, this is the third major tournament in a row won by the Spaniards, which had not yet happened to any other national team. At Euro 2012, Spain spent 12 goals, missing only one. Moreover, the very only missed goal is from the Italian team in the game of the first round of the group stage (that match ended with a score of 1: 1). In the second round, she defeated Ireland (4: 0), in the third - Croatia (1: 0).

In the quarterfinals, the Spaniards won France (2: 0), in the semifinals - they beat Portugal on a penalty.

It turns out that the strongest on Euro 2012 was a group C, since two representatives reached the final. It was previously predicted that one will become a quartet in (Germany, Portugal, Denmark, the Netherlands), called a “death group”. True, the Germans and Portuguese reached the semifinals. But the best participants in the “Life Group” A (Czech Republic and Greece bypassed Russia with Poland) left the struggle in the quarter -finals.

There was no pronounced scorer at Euro 2012. The best result - three goals in the tournament - a number of players can boast.

Among them are Russian midfielder Alan Dzagoev.

But he, like Croat Mario Mandzhukich, spent only three games at the championship, while the rest of the best snipers - Fernando Torres (Spain), Mario Balotelli (Italy), Mario Gomez (Germany), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) - several more games.

But again, Arshavin turned out to be the best efficiency: he spent only three matches, while his competitors tried strength in the playoff matches (and Silva still participated in the final).

The Russian team, we recall, began the performance on Euro 2012 with a bright victory over the Czech Republic (4: 1), then a draw with Poland (1: 1) followed and, finally, the defeat from Greece (0: 1). Under accompanying circumstances, the Russians took only third place in their group and could not go to the quarterfinals. By the way, before the start of the championship, the Russian team in a friendly match defeated Italy - 3: 0. Then there were assumptions that the Russian team - almost the favorite of the tournament, while Italy, torn by scandals associated with contractual matches within the country, was not read the brightest future. In fact, it turned out the other way around.

The next European Championship will be held in 2016 in France. For the first time, 24 teams will take part in this tournament. Two years before Euro 2016, the World Cup will be held in Brazil.
