Thorns for the Holy Spirit?

June 2012. Moscow. The symbol of all Russian Orthodoxy is the monument to Cyril and Methodius. In the hands of one of the saints is an Orthodox cross.

At first glance, everything is fine, but it only seems so. Birds, for some reason, fly up to the monument and immediately fly away in panic. What is the reason? Looking closely, we will see that huge sharp spikes are driven into the cross from above. I imagine with horror what will happen to the poor bird who dares to sit on it... In this regard, it is unclear whose “good” initiative made such a mockery of the cross - an ancient sign denoting God, the Most High, the Creator of the worlds, a symbol of life, and at the same time and above the birds (as is known, in Orthodoxy the dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit). District government or representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church? If it’s the latter, then it’s even more disgusting. For me, this is both desecration of a shrine and humiliation of the feelings of believers. But just recently there were no thorns... Meanwhile, satisfied pigeons are sitting on Abai’s head. It’s good that at least they haven’t driven nails into his head yet...
