My visit to Yekaterinburg (several months ago) was related to the editorial task of the magazine “Around the World”, for which I had to write and draw about this city. Actually, I have already done this, and the magazine has come out.
But the desire to see the City without drugs and the rehabilitation center was my personal initiative. Only mine. It was my human, civil and professional curiosity. In advance, in advance, I answer questions that commentators like to ask us, such as: “Who, Bilzho, pays for this?” The only thing that was not quite pure in my view of what I saw was sympathy and respect for Eugene Roizman. The established in absentia, before meeting with him, and was strengthened at a full -time meeting. But I have long developed as a person (without pathos) so that this fact could prevent me from assessing what I saw and not be objective.
And in the fund they showed me everything. And everything was shown in the rehabilitation center too. Roizman said: "Show Biljo everything." I spoke alone with patients. Nobody stood behind me. And I talked about what I wanted and about what I considered it necessary to talk about.
I report. Maybe it will be interesting to investigators. The opinion of a professional. I recalled ... One old psychiatrician in the hospital named after P.P. Kashchenko, where I started working several decades ago, said to me: “Remember, dear, the medical history is written not for the patient, but exclusively for the investigator. If something happens to the patient, you will be held accountable, and the only document that can help you will be this very history of the disease. ” Nothing has changed.
I saw in the rehabilitation center a chapel and a bathhouse, built by the hands of rehabilitants. Some of the patients calmly moved in the center. Someone could go beyond. And someone was under supervision. This is how any classical psychiatric hospital is arranged.
I know that the first stage in the treatment of drug addicts is their rigid isolation from a drug source. It is tough. For this is true, not false humanism. Many former drug addicts (read, take an interest in) closed themselves handcuffs to the battery and threw the keys to the handcuffs, realizing that this was the only way to escape from death from drugs. On dependence on them. These are those who have not lost their minds and who have preserved the remnants of willpower. And this disease destroys the willpower at all.
What claims can be to a person who lives on the principle of "if not me, then who." To a person who is not sitting in an office with papers, but sees his own eyes on the scale of the disaster. Which does not spare either himself, nor his time, nor his money and is given to the struggle with evil without a trace.
In the state that only speaks of the fight against drug mafia and drug addiction, he says, says, he says - but he does nothing.
It is not enough to make a poster with Putin's face and the question: "Boys, do you need it?" - This is not a struggle or treatment, but pure profanity. Roizman told me that before he was engaged in the creation of the City without drugs, he did not imagine the scale of the disaster. Until I saw the corpses of children on the sidelines of the road. With me, Roizman called desperate parents with a request to help.

Are you treating your children there or in another place?
In these hospitals, people die because of the lack of medicines, the mistakes of doctors, the lack of time among doctors, etc., etc. Yes, they die in hospitals. Yes, drug addicts die. Yes, it is necessary to investigate each case specifically. But do not harm. This is the main medical principle - do not harm. And the main human.
If the persecution of Evgeny Roizman and the City without drugs will continue, I would like to offer to create an independent commission where general profile doctors, psychiatrists and narcologists could enter. I'm ready.
