Speaker and vice speaker Rada resigned

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Litvin asked deputies to accept his resignation, except for him, the vice speaker Nikolai Tomenko said about his early retirement, UNIAN reports. Both represent the opposition faction "But-Babyvshchina".

Litvin made a resignation at the morning meeting on Wednesday after the adoption of the law on the provision of official status to the Russian language in a number of regions of Ukraine.

Recall that the law was approved by the majority deputy on Tuesday evening. Oppositionists tried to block the vote. If the president sign the law, then the Russian language will receive the status of the regional in 13 of 27 administrative-territorial units of Ukraine.
