Kuban tsunami

An activist of the Ecological Watch for the North Caucasus, Suren Ghazaryan , who is located in the Crimean region, writes regarding the possible involvement of the reservoir in the flooding of the surrounding area:

“I drove up the Bakanka and Neberjay rivers as far as I could. I came to the conclusion that the discharge from the Neberjay reservoir could not be the main cause of the flood, although local residents adhere to this version of events. All tributaries of the Adagum rose, and not just the Neberjay river, where the reservoir is located."

And yet, how could a 7-meter deadly wave be formed; It wasn’t a mudslide or an avalanche, which happens in mountainous areas, but water that flowed towards people like a solid wall?
