In Norway, after the government’s intervention, the termination of the 16-day strike of the oil and gas sector workers was announced.
In connection with the protest campaign, oil production on the Norwegian shelf could be suspended today. The authorities decided to use their extraordinary powers to “protect the country's vital interests,” said Norway Minister Hannane Buerstrem.
About six and a half thousand workers participated in a strike supported by three leading Norwegian trade unions. Their requirements concerned a revision of retirement conditions.
