Krymsk was flooded by volunteers

There are already so many humanitarian aid in Krymsk that it lies in heaps on the streets. Things are worse with the clearance of houses. There are clearly not enough workers of volunteers, Publicpost found out - and talked with those who had already come to the aid of the city’s residents.

Hands are disastrously missing

Sovetskaya Street - not far from the center of Crimea - ended up at the flood epicenter. Here, people died with might and main, little remains of houses (mainly not brick). Around the corpses of dead rams and dogs, representatives of the veterinary service go around the areas and disinfect - the water is infected, residents are recommended to be vaccinated. There are many volunteers on Sovetskaya, those who came to Krymsk work with their hands are to clear the rubble. These are, as a rule, people from the Krasnodar Territory, who were attracted by the Department of Youth Policy of the Regional Government.

“We have a single volunteer center, it contains about 700 people. We are provided with food, accommodation,” says Nikita from a small town of Gulkevichi. He works here with the same team that plays football in his city. Nikita's friend, Alexei, wears a T -shirt with Putin’s portrait and the question "Have you signed up for the front?" (All -Russian Popular Front of Vladimir Putin). “Yes, just one clean T -shirt remained, the work is dirty,” he answers my cautious question about political affiliation. Although he likes the president. But I do not like the fact that one house has to be moved from one house to another, without completing the work to the end, as it should: there is time only for the most necessary. Hands are catastrophically lacking. This is also evidenced by a public activist from Moscow Alena Popova - she also organized a volunteer camp and offers to join him at any time. Popova was supported by the top model Natalya Vodianova, who in the evening on Tuesday brought humanitarian aid to Crimea. She did not want to communicate with journalists, but in her Facebook she promised to organize and pay the bus to Krymsk from almost any city.

Occupation

Volunteers, such as Nikita and Alexei, live in tents in the courtyard of the 1st school, so that there is where to wash and charge phones. The guys are already leaving, they spent two days in Krymsk and are preparing to give way to the next group of activists. Natasha had already replaced. Of course, she cannot carry heavings, although she is “ready to do what they say” in advance.

There is no common, centralized program for attracting volunteers, except for the one that the government oversees. Although there are, of course, individual people who just go home and offer help. Someone came from Volgograd, someone from neighboring villages. We are ready for everything - to wash the floors and dogs (although it is pointless here), spreading hot water and food, dragging furniture and equipment from houses to the street, which can no longer be restored. In general, the streets in Krymsk are reminiscent of garage sales, but only what is exposed here at the gate is unlikely to want to buy. Nobody needs a meter plush bear, covered with a thick layer of silt.

Car as a means of mutual assistance

Another category of volunteers are people on cars who spent their own and friends personal money to buy the most necessary victims from the flood. They are not from Krymsk, they don’t know the city, they just drive the streets and ask where the victims are here. Around noon near Sovetskaya, the luxurious BMW X6 stopped. At the wheel - Pavel, the owner of a shopping center in Krasnodar, nearby - his friend Natasha, an elegant blonde in very narrow jeans and a T -shirt with the inscription "Angel" on his chest. Pavel drove into the stock store, spent 60 thousand rubles and bought tourist rugs, bedding, blankets, pillows, clothes and shoes. As soon as he opened the trunk, people immediately ran up, and almost everything was dismantled in about 15 minutes. The fact that no one needed was to lie on the side of the road. There are a lot of such a bunch of clothes throughout the city - both new and used. But they do not experience a lack of attention. How many volunteers such as Pavel and Natasha are in Krymsk are unknown, no accounting is kept.

Warehouse farm

But the main volume of humanitarian aid is collected and distributed in an organized manner. In the city center is a huge warehouse (there are two of them in the city). Trucks come in there, which are then unloaded by the carrier soldiers. In the premises of the boarding school and in tents, all the received ones are sorted and then distributed to eight headquarters, where the victims come for help. Back on Monday, everyone who needs help, only to the headquarters and sent. But now people are already quietly walking around the territory of the warehouses with a request: “Well, give at least something,” and they are given everything, waving their hands on their original order. “Something” is usually a package with products and hygiene items, bread, water, tea, stew, paste, sugar, pasta, toothpaste and brush, soap, toilet paper. Anyone can come to the warehouse. Some are sent by volunteers who came here specifically for coordination.

Officials and ordinary citizens have no complaints about each other

The 26-year-old Zhenya, a PR man from Krasnodar, began by hearing about the flood, he collected things for friends. Now he is already in Krymsk, agrees with the ambulance doctors to supply insulin for diabetics, and the mobile phone, which he does not respond to politeness during our short conversation, calls eight times. “We seem to complement the work of the official headquarters, although we are directing people to them. Here on Sunday there were 70 cars - from Mini Cooper to Ford Transit,” says Zhenya. “Who was sent to the warehouse, who was just to specific streets.” It seems that a unique situation has developed in Krymsk - when officials and ordinary citizens work together and almost have no complaints about each other. Alena Popova on her Twitter, for example, announced the volunteer camp with a zone "without politics".

I managed to talk with officials and employees of the Investigative Committee. Investigators have been going home for several days and draw up protocols, there are more than a hundred of them in Krymsk. At least 20 people from Rostov to the Don, 80 - from Krasnodar, must drive up from Astrakhan. At first, the authorities said to Rostov that they were going for a day. So we went - without a change in clothes and with a minimum of money. First, 150 houses were bypassed in which the dead were found. Then - the next task, 4 thousand houses where no one died. Investigators are confident that data on the number of victims are almost true, although they do not exclude that the number may still grow at the expense of those who are now listed as missing. “The maximum of 50 people,” explains my interlocutor, who sits on the side of the road and in the heat fills the inspection protocol.

At home for debiting

Another problem of Crimean now is the lack of information and a lot of rumors. So, there are rumors that 500 corpses were found in the Varnavinsky reservoir. Although they have nowhere to get there. Panic on Monday from the fact that the second wave is supposedly, is also indicative. They do not explain to people what compensation they will receive, except 10 thousand rubles for priority needs. What to do with housing is still incomprehensible. But one of the volunteers that dismantle the blockages, the builder Andrei, had already warned that at least half of the houses (those that are not brick) was not subject to recovery: they are sailing - from clay and branches. During the flood, they got wet, the ceilings sagged, the frames were damaged. And for repairs it will take at least a million, and then - "if you save very much."
