The death of agricultural crops in the Kurgan region as a result of soil drought amounts to 252 thousand hectares, or 18% of the total crop area, said Sergei Zhdanov, director of the department of agriculture and processing industry of the region, at an extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Policy and Natural Resources of the Kurgan Regional Duma on Monday, 16 July.
“Today, extremely unfavorable agrometeorological conditions have developed in the region, reaching the criteria of a dangerous phenomenon - atmospheric and soil drought. The death of agricultural crops amounted to about 252 thousand hectares, or 18% of the total crop area. 571 thousand hectares of crops are in a depressed state,” said S. .Zhdanov.
According to him, according to preliminary calculations, the material damage to farms amounts to more than 1.816 million rubles. The hardest hit were Tselinny district (crop destruction - 66%), Almenyevsky district (53%), Kurtamysh district (43%) and Zverinogolovsky district (39%). Only Lebyazhyevsky, Petukhovsky, Shadrinsky districts and Kurgan do not show the death. The average crop yield is predicted to be around 9.3 centners per hectare.
