A new holiday has appeared in Khakassia - Yenisei Day
The head of Khakassia, Viktor Zimin, supported the proposal of the regional Public Chamber and signed a resolution establishing the annual environmental holiday Yenisei Day in the republic.
The press service of the Public Chamber of Khakassia reports that regional and municipal authorities are recommended to annually support environmental, cultural, sports events and public events on the occasion of Yenisei Day. The pollution of the Yenisei is becoming catastrophic every year and threatens to develop into an environmental disaster on a regional scale, the authors of the proposal note. They are confident that Yenisei Day will be an additional reason to attract the attention of the public, business, and authorities to the problems of the river, its significance for Khakassia, Tuva, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Russia as a whole, and will remind of the importance of preserving the great river for posterity.
