The head of the Crimean Vladimir Ulanovsky and the former head of the Crimean district, Vasily Krutko, were arrested on charges of negligence, which resulted in the death of two or more people, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reports . Viktor Zhdanov was also arrested, who acted as the head of the MKU "Office for Emergency Prevention and Civil Protection" of the Crimean district.

“In the near future, all three arrested will be charged,” said the official representative of the Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin. The article incriminated by him provides for the maximum punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years.

According to investigators, Ulanovsky, Krutko and Zhdanov, who were part of the prevention and elimination of emergency situations and ensuring fire safety, did not fulfill their duties. Another member of the commission - the head of the village of Nizhnebakanskaya Irina Ryabchenko - passes in the criminal case of the suspect.

Local leaders received storm warnings on July 5 and 6, but “did not determine the possible scale of natural disaster” and “did not fulfill the duties assigned to them on timely and proper notation of the population and evacuate it to safe areas,” said Markin. "The negligent actions of these officials entailed the grave consequences in the form of death of 153 people who were in the city of Crimea of ​​the Krymsk district of the Krasnodar Territory. As a result, the rights of citizens to life and health, the interests of society and the state guaranteed by the Constitution of the Russian Federation were significantly violated," the SKR said in a statement.

In the case, 4415 households affected by floods were examined, 1300 victims and witnesses were interrogated.

Earlier, the governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev removed Krutko from his post. At a meeting with Vladimir Putin, the day after the tragedy, Krutko said that he received information about the disaster at about 10 pm on Friday and immediately took measures to notify the population. According to him, officials began bypassing houses, and on local television they launched a running line. Later, the head of the Crimean television channel denied this information.
