
On July 23, the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan arrested the chairman of the board of directors of the Idel Hajj company Rustem Gatauullin, detained on suspicion of the murder of the former deputy mufti of Tatarstan Valiulla Yakupov and the attempt on the mufti Ildus Fayzov, the RIA Novosti website reports.
By a court decision, Gataullin was arrested for 1 month and 30 days - until September 19, 2012. The period of arrest is calculated from the moment of detention.
Gataullin himself denies his involvement in the crime. He expressed his readiness to help the investigation in every way so that the attackers were punished.
Recall that on the morning of July 19, the Mufti of Tatarstan Ildus Fayzov received slight injuries after undermining the bomb in the cabin of his Land Cruiser car . Around the same time, in Kazan, unknown people shot the deputy Fayzov, the head of the educational department of the spiritual department of Muslims of Tatarstan Valiulla Yakupov.
According to investigators, the main motive for the attempt on the mufti and the murder of his deputy is their professional activity. The Mufti Fayzov opposed organizations preaching the radical currents of Islam. In addition, he took control of the cash flow of the Idel Hajj organization, in connection with which he had a conflict with Gataullin.
On July 21, the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan decided to arrest four more defendants in the case: Abdunazima Ataboev, Murat Galeev, Ayrat Shakirov and Marat Kudakaev .
