My brain is bursting and can't stand it. Streams of information, opinions and their variations press down to the ground. Before my eyes is a carousel of the same names, events, cliches. In short, this is really a very funny story :) Which I will tell you to take a break from global problems, which I wish for you too. Perhaps it is appropriate on the eve of the Olympics.
My grandfather was a unique person. An engineer of the highest standard even by Soviet standards. Lenin laureate, and many other awards. In the 50s, not yet 30, he headed one of the large research institutes related to space. And he led not along the party line - along the engineering line. To the point. Actually, he created this research institute.
Traveling through the wild places of the Leningrad region, he noticed a place near the Vuoksa lakes, not far from a river with rapids, a few kilometers from the village of Losevo. I noticed and built a house. Himself, without asking anyone. This was during the Soviet years. Following him, fence by fence, other engineers of the enterprise, his childhood friends, built houses. They put pressure on all of them, threatened to expel them from the party, and some were even kicked out. They offered me a choice - a career or a home. Grandfather sent everyone and chose a house. But he was too valuable a person, and the matter was limited to paperwork.
The location was so successful that in twenty years a huge horticultural settlement grew up around it, merging with the former village. Now this is a whole area, one could call it a dacha town, in the very north of the Leningrad region. Kayakers and canoeists go there, rapids competitions are held, children go there to summer camps, tourists go there. Only the devil in a mortar doesn’t go there yet.
One summer I went too. Stay, unwind, swim.
The train stops far from my grandfather’s house. A few kilometers away, and even across the river. Not far from the railway there is an ordinary bridge on which people walk, cars ride, and even sometimes horses. From the station you can follow the highway. Or you can take a path through the forest. If you don't turn off to the highway, you can follow this path to the lake.
I decided to go through the forest, take a swim, and only then go to visit my grandfather. I go into the forest, chew the raspberries growing on the sides. I hear rustling. A minute later, a man in swimming trunks appears on the path. With a rubber woman in his hands. Okay, I think it happens. I go further and chew a raspberry. I meet another naked man with two rubber women. Well, I think, brothers in mind, catch up with your comrade. But five minutes later, where the path became much narrower and the forest much denser, I met two more. And both with rubber women.
The heat was fabulous. In such weather you can lose consciousness. I think I've lost everything. Then two women with inflated rubber women appeared from the forest. Finally, we came across a small clearing filled with bustling people. And in everyone’s hands... I went up and touched someone, not being sure that I was not delirious. Having received it on the forehead, I realized that everything was real, and there were quite real people around, with completely real rubber women from a sex shop.
- What is this? - I asked someone. But someone was in a hurry and just waved his hand towards the lake.
I rushed further along the path. I wanted to plop into the water and cool my head. The path came out onto a narrow beach where a crowd of sunbathers gathered. Young and not so young people with sex shop equipment also scurried among them.
In this very place, the long, narrow lake Sukhodolskoye turns into the wide, rapids Vuoksu River, which just a few kilometers later flows into the next lake. The river has a powerful foamy current, is very shallow and is full of rocky rapids, roaring and sparkling, captivating extreme sports enthusiasts. The usual thing there is kayaks and sports canoes, flags and poles stuck into the bottom for competitions, gates like ski slalom and other competition attributes.
A tent with the inscription “ORGING COMMITTEE” and an open tent with a row of tables and folding chairs with the inscription “Judges” loomed near the water.
There were rating boards on the tables. A rescue boat roared on the water with two powerful guys in orange vests. People wearing helmets, elbow pads and knee pads lined up outside the judge's room. Each one held in his hand one, some - two dolls with protruding arms.
I approached the girl with a walkie-talkie and a badge. She busily scurried between the vacationers, snatching from the crowd one or the other “equipped” and putting them in line.
- Tell me what it is?
“What,” the girl was surprised, “isn’t there a competition in sight?” Are you a member?..
The man who was first in line, on command from the boat, entered the water, walked about twenty meters from the shore and fell on the doll with a whoop. Holding it under him with one hand, he began to descend on the rapids, maneuvering between flags, passing “gates” and touching multi-colored poles.
