Nikolai Testedov, the head and general designer of the company's information satellite systems named after Reshetnev, where GLONASS spacecraft are produced, told the news on July 23 that satellites No. 719 and No. 720 were a failure of one of the orientation systems.

The plane in which KA No. 719 and No. 720 is located is now passing the shadows of the Earth, and there are effects caused by exposure to the device at the same time land and the sun. The device is set to the ground, but the sun is a brighter source than the luminous edge of the Earth, and this can disorient the satellite. The simultaneous effect of two light sources is blocked by a number of circuits, in one of which there was a defect due to the alleged exposure to cosmic radiation. He was identified by us, we set software protection on devices No. 719 and No. 720 and plan to put it on all other devices, ”he said.
Note that as of 0:12 Moscow time on July 26, these devices are still listed in maintenance.
Technical work with satellite No. 725 was completed ahead of schedule.
Devices No. 719 and No. 720 were brought to orbit on October 26, 2007, No. 725 - September 25, 2008. At that time, the cooperation of manufacturers of Russian navigation satellites, namely the company “Russian Space Systems” and ISS, experienced difficulties with the acquisition of components.
In 2010, the audit of the Prosecutor General’s Office revealed that the two Glonass-M apparatuses, built in 2007, failed due to the fact that the Taiwanese fee, not intended for use in space technology-did not have proper radiation resistance.
According to Testedov, this time was not refused by imported, but a domestic chip.
Thus, in total, the GLONASS orbital group now has 31 spacecraft, of which 21 are used for its intended purpose - 21, temporarily displayed for 5, in the orbital reserve, 4 are listed in the orbital reserve, and at the stage of flight tests there is one apparatus.
The GLONASS system consists of 24 working satellites moving above the surface of the Earth in three orbital planes with an inclination of orbital planes of 64.8 ° and a height of 19,100 km.
