The Accounts Chamber of Russia responded to a request from Communist Party deputy Vadim Solovyov, who was interested in the cost of the palace of the presidential envoy in the Ural Federal District, Igor Kholmanskikh. Two billion budget rubles were spent on construction, Izvestia writes .

The total area of buildings and structures on the territory of the embassy is 13.4 thousand sq.m. In addition to the embassy building, there are two rooms for storing equipment, an underground sewage pumping station, rooms for household and food waste, a checkpoint with a pass office, as well as the building of the Ryazanov House architectural monument.

According to the Accounts Chamber report, the initial cost of the project was estimated at 907 million rubles. However, by the end of construction (construction began in 2001, ended in 2009), the amount doubled: according to the documents, 2.1 billion rubles were agreed upon.

Deputy Vadim Solovyov considered the residence building too luxurious and proposed transferring the residence to some kind of social institution.

The residence of Igor Kholmanskikh is located in the very center of Yekaterinburg, on the banks of the Iset River. They began to build it under the first plenipotentiary representative in the Urals Federal District, Pyotr Latyshev. He died suddenly in 2008 in Moscow.

On May 21, 2012, Vladimir Putin appointed the head of the Uralvagonzavod workshop, Igor Kholmanskikh, as his plenipotentiary representative in the Ural Federal District. He will be the first to move into the new residence building. Before this, Kholmanskikh lived in a Khrushchev building.

Kholmanskikh became known throughout Russia after his speech during a direct line with Putin, when he proposed to come to Moscow with the men and deal with the oppositionists on Bolotnaya.
