In the Amur region, an old pole connected to a power line fell on two children; a two-year-old girl was hospitalized in serious condition, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region reported on Friday.

According to the department, the tragedy occurred on Thursday in the village of Magdagachi (the administrative center of the district of the same name, located in the north-west of the Amur region). An elderly couple and their two grandchildren - a girl of two and a boy of seven - were relaxing at their summer cottage. According to eyewitnesses, the children's parents live in Khabarovsk, and the children came to stay with their grandparents for a couple of weeks. While the adults were busy in the garden, the children played in a small inflatable pool located near a pole connected to a power line.

“After taking a swim in the pool, the children lay down on a blanket spread near the pool. Before the elderly people had time to turn around, there was a crash and a cry from the little granddaughter. The pole, installed about ten years ago and rotten during this time, collapsed directly on the children, seriously injuring the little girl,” - reported to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Amur Region.

The girl was taken to the Central Regional Hospital of the Magdagachinsky district in serious condition.
