Every four years there is a holiday all over the world. Its name is Olympics. They are waiting for it and preparing for it. Every athlete's dream is to win an Olympic title.
The state, which has become the organizer of the next Olympics, begins to prepare for this solemn event at least eight years in advance. The Olympics opens with a ceremony. The goal of this artistic performance is to create a festive, emotional atmosphere that will be remembered by athletes, tens of thousands of spectators, and billions of television viewers.
To carry out a production of such a planetary scale is the desired dream of many directors, composers, and producers. Outstanding contemporary creators come up with the script, write the music, and design the mass production and special effects down to the smallest detail. As a result, we see magnificent, full of energy and positive living pictures that tell us about the beautiful world around us.
The directors understand that their creation will be watched in all corners of the Earth by a variety of people. Therefore, they try to express with music, light, mass formations, decorations, and technical effects thoughts that are quite simple and understandable to everyone, which do not require additional translation.
Watch, listen, experience, admire.
In fact, this is exactly what is expected from the opening ceremony - an unforgettable experience.
Unfortunately, such a holiday from London, prepared for us by Oscar-winning director and producer Danny Boyle, was largely ruined for Russian television viewers by just one couple of people. Channel One commentators are Kirill Nabutov and Vladimir Gomelsky. They tried, to the best of their strength and ability, to help us enjoy this holiday. Overdone. Kirill Nabutov distinguished himself especially with verbal incontinence and lack of respect, both for the creators of the magnificent spectacle and for the television viewers.
On Twitter, someone even suggested that “the presenters seemed to be drunk.” Don't know. But if, during a moment of silence, in memory of all those who died, Nabutov continued to “comment” on something and share some thoughts, such a version cannot be ruled out.
In the brightest and most climactic moments, when the music created the drama of the action, either through a soundtrack or a live performance, we had to “enjoy” the speech effects of a helpful commentator instead. This destroyed the most important thing - the atmosphere of the holiday.
At first I wanted to politely ask - guys, be quiet for a minute. But the guys chattered non-stop. By the end of the ceremony, when, for example, the young group Artic Monkeys performed the famous “Come Together” or when the children’s choir sang, patience simply ran out and the command “Shut up”, perhaps, would have been the most appropriate for this couple at that moment.
They didn't shut up. The holiday is ruined. The sediment remained.
There are no further words. Only letters left.
