The director of Danny Boyle, the author of the “millionaire from the slum”, did not disappoint the audience.

The show "Wonderland" spoke about the history of Great Britain: from the Middle Ages through the industrial revolution and two wars to the present, she reminded of the cultural achievements of the British: from her favorite fairy tales about Morry Poppins, Peter Pan and Harry Potter to the legendary musicians from Rolling Stones, Queen and, of course, Beatles. Sir Paul McCartney sang the final composition of the ceremony.

The Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II opened the ceremony. According to the director, the royal person from the Buckingham Palace was taken by the secret service of Her Majesty James Bond performed by Daniel Craig.

The legendary spy, along with Elizabeth II, flew into the stadium by helicopter, after which they sprinkled effectively from the parachute. However, to the relief of the subjects, the queen herself, as it turned out, watched the jump of her understudy from the royal box. Under the anthem "God, keep the queen" the flag of Great Britain was raised.

According to the first, the Greeks went to the parade of athletes, then the participating countries appeared in alphabetical order.

The flag of the Russian national team in the hands of Maria Sharapova appeared at the stadium only the 153rd number. The march of the Olympics closed the procession.

For the first time in the games, the female teams of such Islamic states as Brunei, Saudi Arabia and Qatar participated. In addition, Qatar entrusted his athlete to carry the country's flag. The latest on the field appeared the flag of the Olympic movement, which was introduced by famous champions of the past.

When the white flag with five rings was raised, David Backham introduced the Olympic flame to the arena and handed it to the famous rower Stephen Redgrave.

The honor to light the Olympic torch this time immediately fell to seven young athletes of the British national team. The festive salute illuminated the sky of London.
