
The mayor of the city of Kemerovo Vladimir Mikhailov, who was the head of the city for 16 years, filed a petition for resignation. This was reported on Monday in the Department of Social and Information Policy of the City Administration, Interfax reports .
“The decision to make the resignation of the head of the city will be made tomorrow at the session of the City Council of People's Deputies,” the agency told the administration.
Note that the city authorities did not specify the reason for the resignation of Mikhailov.
Vladimir Mikhailov became the mayor of Kemerovo in 1996. In June of this year, he said that he would not participate in the elections of the head of the city in 2013.
