Ex-President of Mongolia sentenced to 4 years for corruption

Former President of Mongolia Nambaryn Enhbayar was found guilty of corruption and sentenced to four years in prison. This decision was made by the Suhebatorsky District Court of Ulan Bator on August 3, RBC reports

The court also decided to confiscate the property of the former president and the 30 million Tugriks owned by him (about 22 thousand US dollars). The lawyers of the 54-year-old Enhbayar said they were shocked by the verdict, and promised to appeal in the near future.

Nambaryn Enhbayar served as head of state from 2005 to 2009. He was arrested and accused of assigning money intended for state needs, including monasteries, Life reports News .

The trial against the ex-president was accompanied by scandals.
