The authorities of the Krasnodar region will allocate 650 million rubles annually for the salaries of Cossacks and the maintenance of professional Cossack squads, which from September 1 will begin to patrol the streets in the cities and villages of Kuban, the press service of the regional administration reported with reference to Governor Alexander Tkachev on Friday.
“Since January 1 of this year, funding for police activities has been provided from the federal treasury, and the regional leadership decided to use part of the freed funds to strengthen the security of the region,” the statement says.
