I never listened to Elena Vaenga, honestly! A couple of times TV tried to arrange for my ears to listen to her songs without permission, but I resisted. I didn't like them. Of course, I heard Valeria or Nadezhda Babkina. There's no way around this. But only as a forced background...

But I listened to Peter Gabriel, Sting, The Who, and Patti Smith almost from my youth. About 15 years ago I heard the Red Hot Chili Peppers and was captivated by them. As for Grebenshchikov or Makarevich, I’ve been with them all my life...

What a blessing that it was precisely those people whom I listened to all my life and whose songs I was practically raised on, who were unanimously indignant at lawlessness and cruelty and demanded justice... And those who from the very beginning raised my doubts and did not like me - called for revenge and reprisals!

I know, read and watch Stephen Fry, Terry Gilliam, Bykov, Akunin, Ulitskaya and almost all the directors and actors who spoke out for a merciful attitude towards the girls from Pussy Riot. And I don’t know a single person who calls for revenge and punishment! Well, except for Nikita "besogon" Mikhalkov and Valentin Rasputin.

And what’s interesting is that I haven’t watched a single Mikhalkov film after Burnt by the Sun. But just a week ago I rewatched Gilliam’s “The Fisher King”!

And it is precisely those to whom I listen who believed that “The right to protest exists in any democratic country...” and that “the artist’s task is to make political protests legitimate and fight for freedom of speech.” And they are not looking for conspiracies against Russia and Orthodoxy. ..

Just imagine - this means that I have not made mistakes since childhood! Those people who inspired me made a civilized choice at a difficult moment. And what inspired me since childhood turned out to be correct! As Vysotsky sang, “So you read the right books as a child.”

My dears, you won’t believe it - horror takes over as soon as you think that I could have listened, watched or read something else since childhood. What today would bring me to Vaenga and Mikhalkov!

I am grateful to the girls from Pussy Riot that, as a result of their efforts, the world began to fall into place and acquire the correct configuration. We now have a coordinate system. We can be sure that we are right because our values ​​have confirmed their strength!

Now all that remains is to get the innocent prisoners out of this concrete glass.
