The head of the administration of the Lomonosovsky district of the Leningrad region, Yevgeny Ustinov , was detained at night on suspicion of committing a series of crimes, including extortion. On Monday, the investigation intends to petition the court to select a preventive measure for the official in the form of detention, reports Fontanka.Ru .

Ustinov was detained in four criminal cases. In the private house of the official, employees of the ICR department for the Leningrad region conducted a search. Also present at the scene were employees of the regional prosecutor's office , the FSB and operatives from the department of economic security and anti-corruption of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

Investigative actions are taking place within the framework of four previously initiated criminal cases. Two of them were initiated under Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud), one - under Article 201 of the Criminal Code (abuse of authority) and the fourth case - under Article 163 of the Criminal Code (extortion).

Since July 18, in the administration of the Lomonosov district, employees of the regional prosecutor’s office, as well as the department of economic security and anti-corruption of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, carried out a large-scale inspection related to information about violations in the distribution of land plots, as well as regarding the operation of route buses . As a result of this inspection, four criminal cases were initiated.

According to Fontanka, both cases of fraud are related to the sale of land plots, the case of extortion concerns the fact that a number of administration employees unlawfully laid claim to someone else’s business, and abuse of official powers concerned violations in the housing and communal services sector.
