Everyone, from “law enforcement officers” to bandits, have today begun this dirty business - “cleansing” the Russian segment of the Internet from everything living and creative, from everything that is NOT directly dependent on money tranches (and it doesn’t matter who pays: the state budget or foreign “sponsors”). Massive raids began on those who work “not under the roof.” Why? Yes, because the party said: “We must.”

Are you against pornography?
The debate around the law on pornography on the Internet has not yet ceased, but it has already become clearer that the initiators of the law are least interested in pornography. I will say more: the current government, in the person of all its leaders - starting with the founder of the political regime B. Yeltsin and including all his “successors” - over the past twenty years has quite tolerated the massive introduction of porn into the masses of Russian youth, both on laser discs and via the Network. Let me just remind you – very briefly – of two episodes:
1. Under B. Yeltsin, the State Duma adopted a law on pornography, which the “guarantor of the constitution” immediately vetoed. Then the State Duma voted again with a qualified majority and overcame the presidential veto. But still, the law - now in violation of the Constitution - was not approved by the head of state.
2. M. Khodorkovsky, together with his accomplices, using money stolen from oil production, created the FIO (Federation of Internet Education), which, among other things (and it was engaged in educational activities without accreditation of its educational units), published the magazine “Fakel”. They bought this former pioneer organ because of the name, which they thought was consonant with a well-known English verb. And the content of Khodorkov’s version of the Fakel magazine fully corresponded to the “new sound” of the title. There were articles published about how cool it is in Holland (or Denmark), where you can legally buy dope weed in a city park, about what rituals Satanists perform, about this... and “ABOUT THIS.” The illustrations matched the texts. In some rooms there were up to several dozen naked butts. Rubrics were written in the same spirit, recommending young people what music to listen to and what books to read. This rather thick magazine with a glossy cover was distributed free of charge to high school and college students with a circulation of 40,000 copies. Students of FIO educational courses asked each other in weak voices: “Where is the president looking?” (O'Henry "Chief of the Redskins"). That is, the people were sincerely interested in how the state felt about this publication. And it supported the magazine. The then Minister of Education Vladimir Filippov (and in those years I had the rare opportunity to study this person closely, but here and now I will omit all the epithets about his intellectual abilities, so as not to be subject to prosecution for insulting this person) was even the chairman of the Editorial Council of the magazine... As he remembers reader, M. Khodorkovsky was imprisoned not at all for the activities of his charges in corrupting the enemy’s rear... the younger generation, but only when he encroached on the holy of holies - the sphere of personal interests of a number of world-famous persons. Until that moment, theft in the oil industry, the ousting of Russian companies from oil production services and their replacement with AMERICAN ones, and the propaganda of debauchery did not in any way touch the hearts of the top officials of the Russian Federation...
And then suddenly they became so concerned...
And I can’t help but want to repeat the famous phrase of K.S. Stanislavsky: “I don’t believe it!”
I don’t believe that ALL THE SAME PERSONS who advised Boris Yeltsin to impose a “veto” suddenly so simply, without any second thought... That’s right, the existence of a second thought was absolutely obvious to me from the very first steps of the initiators the current anti-pornography law.
My personal account
However, my personal “I don’t believe it” would simply hang in the air if I did not have specific experience and specific facts. But there are facts - facts that expose OTHER MOTIVES for the beginning “cleansing” of the Russian Internet zone (probably with the goal of turning it into a branch of the well-known “zone”).
As facts testify, the fight against pornography has only TECHNOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE in the context of a long-term plan. By all appearances, it is intended to use pornography to practice the methods and techniques of Internet sweeps. And ultimately, the Russian segment of the Internet must suffer the fate of domestic media.
I will not once again talk about what and how was done with the media (although my hands are itching... The lack of awareness of the population of Krymsk about the threat is an absolutely logical result of the entire information policy of the current authorities at all levels; and two-week delays of information on television - when the reader has long been from LiveJournal knows about some socially significant event, and TV channels somewhere up there agree with someone whether it is possible to report this - they only cause nervous laughter, and sometimes from the television screen you hear reports about events that were postponed by the organizers to a later date; deadline, but the INFORMATION media were not informed about this...). Let me explain better how I personally relate to the upcoming Internet purges.
For more than 12 years I have been running on the Internet the project I created “CHRONOS. World History on the Internet." The main domain is hrono.ru Now, at the very moment when I am writing these lines, when requesting the hrono.ru address, a white screen loads. At the same time, I immediately want to draw the reader’s attention to an important detail: my project has nothing to do with pornography. hrono.ru is a historical project! Unlike the popular folk encyclopedia, in my project, for each historical problem, DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW, different author's points of view are presented (including, I allow myself to express my opinion).
Despite the humanitarian nature of the project, despite the emphatically objectivist principle of selecting materials (giving a three-dimensional understanding of the subject, multi-faceted coverage of each historical problem), my project has regularly, since the summer of 2009, been subjected to “attacks” from the so-called (traditionally) law enforcement agencies . Since then, attempts have been made to close my project more than once. Each time, a special reason was given, so to speak, but each time the provider was ordered to block the ENTIRE PROJECT. (By the way, the procedure for “attacks” does not even resemble that described in the recent “discussion” of the law on combating pornography on the Internet. The newspapers wrote that orders would first be issued - what material should be removed - after which a decision would be made to block the entire domain. These are all just fantasies aimed at misinforming the population. The ENTIRE DOMAIN IS BLOCKED immediately without any warning).
Another “hitting”
The last time the attack on CHRONOS began was on June 5, 2012. A representative of the provider called me at home and said: we have received a “chain letter” from the Voronezh City Department of Internal Affairs, which orders us to immediately block the entire domain hrono.ru
What feelings and thoughts did this message make me feel? The feeling is strictly according to K.S. Stanislavsky. And the thought was this: “Voronezh City Internal Affairs Directorate... I HAVE ALREADY HEARD something about it.” That is, not something and somewhere, but specifically in the spring of 2010. Then the owner of a domain dedicated to preparing for the Unified State Exam turned to me for help. There were, as I remember, two months left before the start of the Unified State Exam. And suddenly he receives a “letter of happiness” from the Voronezh City Department of Internal Affairs with an order to block the ENTIRE SITE. That is, it was not he who personally received the order, but his St. Petersburg (!) provider. Tell me, it’s funny: what does Voronezh have to do with it? Even more strange was the reason for the “attack”: in the section devoted to Islam, in the list of literature there was named a book that had been included in the Ministry of Justice list over the years of the project’s existence. Do you understand? There is no book itself, but only an indication of it in the list of references! But the most interesting thing is yet to come. Soon after my friend’s site was blocked, a massive advertising campaign began online to promote ANOTHER SITE ON THE SAME SUBJECT...
The attentive reader may have noticed that this is the third time I have used the adjective “massive.” And this is no coincidence. Here, by and large, we find a recognizable style - common to those people who now consider themselves the masters of the country, and the rest of the population are held as slaves. Massiveness is generally their strong point. The same massive actions were organized and carried out every time by Adolf Hitler. Today, massiveness is a sign, so to speak, of the American school of management, manipulation of consciousness, and world domination.
So, the phrase “Voronezh Central Internal Affairs Directorate” evoked quite definite connotations in my mind. Agree that with such clear coincidences of meaning - the complete closure of the site due to nit-picking, moreover, on the eve of the Unified State Exam, and moreover, with the simultaneous promotion of a competing site - this is already overkill in order to believe in the good intentions and legality of the initiative of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate. Well, that is, I would like to believe, but I still can’t do it...
Therefore, having learned about the “letter of happiness” from the Voronezh City Internal Affairs Directorate, I - without any illusions - immediately imagined, so to speak, the “scheme” according to which the unknown attacker worked: “Hello, this is the St. Petersburg City Internal Affairs Directorate, department “K”? But I need... Jump-jump?!... No, it’s expensive.” “Hello, is this the Voronezh City Internal Affairs Directorate? I would like... a-ha-ha, nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudweaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaintmentament of which the place names and abbreviations in my reconstruction are fictitious; all coincidences are an unfortunate accident...).
Today, to practically close any website, law enforcement agencies only need to find a reason. Do I need to repeat once again that with the current law enforcement practice, almost every citizen of the Russian Federation can be attacked without any extra effort. And if the “customer” is able to pay the police official a tidy sum, then there will be no restrictions on raids. I admit honestly: I even felt sorry for my provider. After all, they will easily take away the license for provider activities, they will not look at the fact that for a decade and a half he has been working on the crest of advanced technologies, bringing Russia closer to... They don’t care about progress with modernization. There is nothing but empty sounds for the “customer” and for the performer of the “assault” in these words (I wonder, for some of the higher-ups, these are also just empty sounds?).
What can a domain owner do when he is attacked by some police department? Appeal to the court? And how long will it take? Can you imagine what would happen if my pen pal began to challenge the order of the Voronezh City Internal Affairs Directorate in court? The Unified State Exam would have passed long ago, the owner of a competing site would have hit the jackpot by cheating on a less efficient site builder. Clearly understanding this, I gave the poor fellow some advice, as a result of following which, within five days after the closure, the site was launched on the server of another provider. My calculation was simple: if the “customer” paid a round sum to “overwhelm” a competitor by issuing an order to his provider, then the second provider (that is, to pay for another order) would have money in the business plan of even a very aggressive “entrepreneur” it may not turn out to be. And it’s unlikely that anyone will move for free. The calculation was justified. The “customer” ran out of money, and the site dedicated to preparing for the Unified State Exam quietly continued to exist on the server of another (also Russian) provider.
Of course, I decided to do the same after June 5, 2012. I could have submitted papers to the court for a year, waited for a hearing, etc., and my project would not have existed all this time, which was probably what was “ordered.” But this was not the first “attack” on CHRONOS, so I decided to change the Russian provider to a foreign one, for which the paper from the Central Internal Affairs Directorate does not have that magical effect - a boa constrictor on a rabbit.
Second step
On the evening of June 5, CHRONOS was already working on a foreign server. I’ll say it sincerely: I didn’t want to transfer the domain beyond the borders of our vast Motherland. Even during the first “attack” in 2009, I told those who even then advised moving “beyond the cordon”: “Why should I virtually emigrate? This is MY COUNTRY! My children live here. Let THEM, THOSE who don’t like my project, get the fuck out.” But here I had nowhere to go, the alternative turned out to be very poor: either to wage expensive litigation for years (with the Central Internal Affairs Directorate! In our country!), or...
The project in Russia has millions of readers, hundreds of regular authors, so my friends after the next attack - on June 5 - told me: “We are ready to provide information support, expose swindlers and thieves. What should we do?
“Wait,” I answered, “let’s wait for the second step...”
Time passed. A month has passed. The second one began to decline. And I already thought that there would be no second step. “They’re probably not idiots there, they’re also lawyers, maybe, and,” I thought somewhere in mid-July, “apparently there won’t be a continuation.”
I was wrong. There was a continuation, but what a sequel! If on June 5 everything outwardly looked decent, orderly, and was even carried out, one might say, in a completely legal form, then...
...I suddenly learned from a new foreign provider that a DDOS attack was being carried out on their foreign server, on which the hrono.ru domain is located... The server “fell”, and on July 28 the provider refuses to provide services. Unfortunately, the provider I chose in June turned out to be weak in the fight against DDOS attacks. From correspondence with him, I learned that DDOS attacks began on July 22, but at first the result was only a temporary stoppage of the domain. By the end of the month, DDOS attacks became massive (Again! That's the handwriting!) and overwhelmed the server.
For those who do not know what a DDOS attack is, I will explain. This is an illegal, criminal act - online banditry. Moreover, I use the word “banditry” NOT as a literary image, but literally. How exactly is the attack carried out? From several hundred computers controlled by the attacker (infected with a virus), scattered around the world, on the same day and hour - on command from the control computer - a request is made for a connection to a single IP address (on which the server is actually located -object of attack). The server responds to the request, but the connection – from the side of the virus program – is never established. The server waits a certain amount of time and resets the connection, but a request immediately arrives from the next computer. At the same time, requests from all real users who, for example, want to read a selection of materials about the Battle of Kulikovo on the CHRONOS project, do not have time to be processed and the server displays only a white screen with a technical inscription instead of a site page.
DDOS attacks are mainly used by bandits against commercial structures. In fact, this is one of the varieties of racketeering - extortion: the owner of the kiosk himself is not touched, but the windows can be knocked out and make normal work impossible. The director of one online store told me about how he was sent a letter demanding to pay $100,000 to a specified account, and if he refused, they threatened to launch a DDOS attack. The online store did not have such profits, so the director went to Petrovka 38, to department “K” and wrote a statement about the gangster “hit.” (I must admit that Petrovka 38 behaves much more correctly in its work with citizens than other police departments; however, even here I once had the opportunity to talk with one of the operational workers, who felt nothing but annoyance that the authorities forced his job is to analyze Internet denunciations, and not his direct job responsibilities - the fight against bandits).
So, DDOS attacks on the hrono.ru domain became widespread, and the server “fell.” And this is the SECOND STEP of the “customer”... however, what’s the point of being a bandit ? Let's call a spade a spade: CHRONOS was "run over" by an ordinary bandit. Both his goals and methods are gangster. The difference is that I don’t have an online store and I don’t receive income from sales. (Of course, I had to partially monetize the traffic of my sites in order to be able to pay for hosting, site construction and domain support. But these revenues do not allow me to pay some kind of “ransom”). However, the bandit seems to understand this himself. Therefore, I did not receive any letters warning or demanding money. Despite the absence of obvious threats and demands, the bandit raid occurred. And it happened sequentially after the “assault”, committed, so to speak, within the framework of the current legislation - by the Voronezh City Department of Internal Affairs. The consequences of both attacks are extremely similar: the project ceases to exist. With such an obvious coincidence of consequences, the organic commonality of the goals of both “assaults” seems more than likely.
I don’t know who exactly is “running in”. Technologically, it looks something like this: a bandit pays money to a group of hackers who send viruses around the world from a computer located somewhere in Ecuador. And they launch a DDOS attack.
What do the bandits want? For what purpose are they coming? This remains to be seen. Moreover, it’s somehow out of my hands to contact the same law enforcement agencies from which the “hijacking” took place. Let me explain in a nutshell: by forcing me to transfer the domain of the RU zone to a foreign hosting, the organizer of all these “legal” and clearly illegal attacks thereby deprived me of the protection of the Russian competent authorities from DDOS attacks. I believe that there could also be intent here. However, even an appeal to these authorities, one must assume, will yield little. This conclusion has to be made taking into account the entire context: since the summer of 2009, KHRONOS has been raided with enviable regularity by law enforcement agencies. Why would they suddenly come to the defense now?
What to do?
The eternal question in Russia: “What to do?” As a matter of fact, that’s what I’m already doing – I’m publicly addressing all Internet users to talk about what’s going on in the Russian segment. While there is talk and mass publication of materials about the law supposedly being adopted to combat pornography on the Internet, in fact, the Internet is ALREADY being cleared of all projects that provide a different point of view from the official one (reproduced on television) on all areas of social life. From the fact that during the raids no one ever demanded a ransom from me, I conclude that the essence and purpose of the “raids” lies in the sphere of ideology. Everyone knows that the Constitution of the Russian Federation of 1993 states: in Russia there is no official unified ideology. But to the same extent, the entire population of the country experiences ideological influence on a daily basis - in clear contradiction with the provisions of the Constitution - and primarily through television, including through channels that are legally state-owned. I will not go into details of the analysis of this ideology. It serves the needs of predators who are ready to plunder the country, leaving Voronezh and Volgograd black soils disfigured by many kilometers of empty quarries (in order to extract nickel ore and sell all the nickel abroad - modern Russia does not have its own production facilities that require nickel), lifeless deserts abandoned after oil production, abandoned villages and villages of Central Russia. This ideology has actually existed for more than twenty years, but its effectiveness begins to decline over time. Designed primarily for the Soviet man, it has little effect on the younger generations coming to replace him. And the ideologists see the way out of the ideological impasse that is thus formed in cutting off any alternative to officialdom.
The ideal model of the ideological sphere, according to predatory ideologists, is for the residents of Russia to learn from school about who they are and who their ancestors are, from the course “Russia and the World” (which is no longer even “History”, but devils what kind of item). Historical memory is not needed by the population of a country from which oil, gas and money received for oil and gas are pumped out, so current ideologists believe. It is absolutely clear that it is possible to establish a monopoly on SUCH an ideology for the population of the country only if all other sources of information - objective and multilateral - are suppressed.
In the face of totalitarian debilitation, I see only one way to counteract: to illuminate this satanic darkness with the light of publicity, to bring into the light of God those demons who are powerless in the light to harm people.
Resistance
I admit: for more than 12 years of working on my project, for some time (the first two years after the launch of the project) I naively believed that “the state should support such a useful undertaking.” Now I am fully aware that the main task of CHRONOS - preserving the historical memory of the Russian people - in principle cannot be a practical task for the current rulers. Rather, their task is exactly the opposite.
We, choosing between preserving the people’s national identity and turning into outwardly “civilized” cattle, still, without saying a word, prefer to remain people - the heirs of those who created our civilization. From such a choice inevitably follows the need to resist all attempts at debilitation. In the context of all of the above, Resistance means supporting a project that was specifically conceived and created in order to preserve the historical memory of the people. CHRONOS will be preserved - students and schoolchildren will have somewhere to look to obtain objective information about our past. I am sure that the civic duty of everyone who thinks about the future (and the future of their children) is to defend CHRONOS.
The civic duty of those perpetrators who, through thoughtlessness or under threat of reprisal, became involved in organizing and carrying out attacks on CHRONOS, is to report those who organized and paid for these illegal actions.
For my part, I guarantee that I will keep my sources secret, and I will use the information received from informants exclusively carefully, so as not to frame the informants.
