The Supreme Court of Karachay-Cherkessia sentenced 32-year-old Salavat Gandaev, a former member of the territorial election commission of the Karachay district of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, to 19 years in a maximum security colony. for the murder of a famous religious figure, rector of the Islamic Institute, deputy chairman of the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and Stavropol Territory Ismail Bostanov, committed in 2009.
The court also found Gandaev guilty of causing grievous harm to the health of the deputy mufti's son, as well as of illegal arms trafficking, reports the correspondent of the Interfax-South agency.
