The Kirovsky District Court of Astrakhan on Monday sentenced the three instigators of a mass brawl that occurred in 2011 on Airborne Forces Day at one of the city markets, regional prosecutor Oleg Dupak said.
“Two of the defendants were sentenced to two years of imprisonment to serve their sentence in a general regime correctional colony, the third was given one year and nine months of general regime. No innocent people were found there,” Dupak said.
A domestic conflict became the cause of a mass brawl that occurred on August 2, 2011 in Astrakhan between former paratroopers and Caucasian traders at the Bolshiye Isady market. A criminal case was initiated against three residents of Astrakhan, immigrants from the former USSR and the North Caucasus, for hooliganism against former servicemen of the Airborne Forces of the Ministry of Defense. Three defendants in the case were accused of hooliganism, intentional damage to someone else's property and battery. There were no accused among the paratroopers.
