Freedom Pussy Riot!

On August 5, Tomsk hosted two events related to the vocal and instrumental ensemble "Pussy Riot" - a picket against the scandalous group and a concert in its support.

An Anti-Pussy Riot picket took place on Novosobornaya Square. The organizers of the picket were the youth association “Stop Degradation”. According to the participants of the action, the girls who performed a punk prayer service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior deserve real punishment, since they touched the foundations of Russian Orthodox culture.

Representatives of the association to stop degradation do not shy away from displaying posters with obscene words in a public place where there are a lot of children

The picket participants reported that the girls should not be given prison sentences, but should be given a preventive measure in the form of correctional labor

The picket lasted about an hour


And in the evening, the “Citizen Sings” concert took place in the “End Frunze” pub in support of “Pussy Riot”. The event was non-commercial in nature. Entrance was free for everyone; the premises and equipment were provided to the musicians free of charge. The event brought together about 150 people.

Novosibirsk artist and blogger Artem Loskutov sold T-shirts with prints depicting members of Pussy Riot; he will send all the proceeds to the arrested members of the group
